HPER Building to Close August 11-17, 2008

This year the HPER Building will close August 11-17, 2008 to perform several maintenance projects.  Considering the number and degree of projects slated, IMRS staff has decided that the safest option is to close the HPER Building and limit the amount of foot traffic.  An example of maintenance projects that will be completed during this time frame are screening and recoating Gyms 2, 3, and 4, sanding, sealing, and finishing Rooms 320 and Racquetball Courts 1-10, cleaning carpeted activity areas, power wash building entrances, inspecting and conducting maintenance all Fitness Center equipment, repairing pool lint basket, repairing compromised pool valve, reorganization of several storage spaces, inspect and maintenance of pool caulk and tile, and Facilities Management performing thorough inspections of the Men's and Women's locker rooms.  During this period the HPER building will be open for student to meet with Health, Kinesiology, Recreation, and Dance faculty and for HPER members to purchase and/or renew HPER memberships.  The HPER building will resume normal Summer Hours on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 6:00 a.m.  Enjoy your break, but don't forget to renew your HPER membership.  The IMRS office will be open Monday, August 11 - 15, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we continue to maintain and improve your facilities.

Fee Increases

On August 1, 2008 IMRS will raise towel, guest, and locker storage fees.  The increase was needed for a variety of reasons:  The operating expenses for all of these services increase every year.  Due to the increase in minimum wage and the increase in the operating expenses we were unable to continue to absorb the increase of those costs.  We have not increased these rates in years.  If the rate increases were not improved we were going to have to reduce and/or eliminate some of these services.  When compared to local facilities and our sister institutions these rates are still reasonable.  A table below details the fee increases.
