Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a list of frequently asked questions regarding Intramural Sports at the University of Arkansas. Though there are numerous questions and answers posted on this site, intramural participants are encouraged to read the Intramural Handbook for all policies and procedures.
What activities are offered by the Intramural Sports Program?
Information on the activities offered during each semester can be found on the intramural website under the schedule/results page and on the second floor of the HPER.
Who is eligible to participate in Intramural Sports?
All students currently enrolled in 1 credit hour on the University of Arkansas campus shall be eligible for intramural activities. Faculty and staff members with at least a 50% appointment and HPER membership are eligible for intramural activities. Spouses of any eligible participant can participate in intramural activities provided they have a HPER membership; however, they are limited to participating in CoRec events on the same team as their spouse.
What do I need to participate in intramural activities?
All participants must present a current University of Arkansas student id or HPER membership id before each intramural contest.
What is the difference between a forfeit and a default forfeit?
A forfeit occurs when a team does not have the minimum number of players present and legally signed in at game time. A forfeit fine will be assessed to the team captain for a forfeit. A default forfeit occurs when a team captain contacts the intramural staff one business day in advance to notify the staff that his or her team will be unable to attend their contest. The game is recorded as a loss but no forfeit fine is assessed.
How can I participate in Intramural Sports if I do not have a team?
Throughout each semester, the Intramural Sports Department offers manager's meetings for every major sport (Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball). Participants hoping to join a team are encouraged to attend these meetings because this is a great opportunity to either form a team with other free agents or join an existing team. The department also offers a free agent list online for managers to browse. However, those participants who attend the manager's meetings are more likely to find a team than those who just sign-up online.
I was ejected from an intramural game. What should I do?
All ejected players must schedule a meeting with the Associated Director of Intramural Sports before he or she is permitted to participate in future intramural contests. Ejected players are prohibited from participating in any intramural contests until he or she has been reinstated.
What must my team do to be eligible for the playoffs?
Teams that complete the regular season with a winning percentage of .500 or better, a sportsmanship rating of 2.5 or higher, and no more than 2 no show forfeits are eligible for the playoffs.
Can I play on more than one team?
Players may only play on one single gender team and one CoRec team in the same sport. Therefore, a participant may NOT play for a men's Res Hall team and a Fraternity team.
Can I play in the Men's League if I'm a woman?
A female participant may play on a Men's League team; however, she forfeits the right to play on a Women's League team.
What if the wrong score is listed online?
If the wrong score is listed on the website, the manager should immediately contact the intramural staff at imsports@uark.edu.
