League Playoffs
League events will culminate in a single elimination playoff. To be eligible for the playoffs, teams must meet the following criteria:- a winning percentage of at least .500;
- a sportsmanship rating of at least 2.50; and
- no more than one forfeit.
The top 2 teams from each division will make the playoff bracket as long as they meet the requirements above. The teams from all leagues will be combined into one men's and one women's playoff bracket. At-large spots will be available for teams not ranked in the top 2 in their division, the number of spots available will be determined by the number of teams needed to fill the bracket. At-large spots will be filled by the next highest ranked teams. The brackets will be available for viewing no later than week 4 of the season showing where each division winner and runner-up will be placed.
Teams that are tied within their division will be ranked upon the following criteria:
A. If a two-way tie exists, it will be decided by who beat whom in head-to-head competition.
B. If a three-way tie exists, it will be decided as follows:
1. Head-to-head competition.
2. Sportsmanship Rating.
3. The difference between total points scored versus total points allowed for the head-to-head matchups of tied teams.
4. Forfeit - the team that forfeits will be dropped to the lowest possible position among the teams that are tied.
5. If teams are still tied a coin flip will be utilized to determine the rankings.
It is the team’s responsibility to check the Intramural website after 3:00 P.M. the day after the last day of the regular season to see which teams qualified for the playoffs. In order to avoid miscommunication the Intramural Staff will attempt to notify all team managers about playoff brackets. The rules and code of conduct will remain the same throughout the playoffs that existed in the regular season.
