Health and Safety

The University of Arkansas at Fayetteville or Intramural/Recreational Sports is NOT responsible for injuries to participants or spectators while competing in intramural sports. Participants should understand that injuries are an inherent part of all sports activities. Health and accident insurance is strongly recommended for all students prior to participation in any intramural event. Doctor’s instructions concerning physical handicaps, injuries, illness, and involvement in activities should be carefully followed. Managers are responsible for ensuring that team members understand all of these policies.

Injuries and Liabilities--- All injuries should be reported to an Intramural/Recreational Sports staff member immediately. The staff will fill out an Accident Report Form and recommend if further care or assistance is required. If a participant is injured and does not have transportation, the University of Arkansa Police Department or an ambulance will be called to assist. Emergencies occurring within the HPER or outside facilities should be reported to any supervisor immediately.

Participation in all activities in the HPER Building, on the Intramural Fields, or in any program sponsored by the Intramural/Recreational Sports Program, regardless of location, is voluntary on behalf of all participants. All participants knowledge and agree that University of Arkansas does not provide insurance for any of its activities and shall not be liable for any injuries that occur at any of these locations or in any of its programs.

Blood Policy--- Participants that are bleeding will be removed from any activity immediately. If blood is found on a participants clothing, regardless of whose blood it is, will be removed until the clothing saturated with blood has been removed. Prior to any participant reentering an activity bleeding must be stopped and all cuts or lacerations must be covered. Participants will not be allowed to participate in any activity until all the conditions discussed above are met.
