Natatorium, Gyms, and Fitness Center Set to Re-open the week of August 20, 2007

Several activity areas within the HPER Building are set to re-open the week of August 20, 2007.  The pool, gyms 2, 3, and 4, and the fitness center all suffered long closures as required maintenance was completed.  The draining of the pool lasted a total of 4 days.  As the pool drained, crews worked to clean and scrub the pool walls and floor.  Once drained, all caulk lines were pulled out and loose tiles were removed.  We experienced a record low number of tiles to replace, which was great news. The filling process took approximately 5 days as it coincides with campus move-in, making it more difficult to fill the pool faster.  The pool opening is set for Thursday morning, August 23, 2007 at 6:30 am for open recreation swim. Gyms 2, 3, and 4 were sanded July 30, 2007.  The sanding of all three gyms lasted approximately one week, with painting of court lines and refinishing of floors lasting three weeks. Project Pictures...

The Fitness Center recieved new equipment the week of August 13, 2007 and IMRS staff assisted in the training and installation of the new equipment.  The Fitness Center was available for use again on August 20, 2007.

Information Submissions Sought for Digital Signboards in CoE&HP Buildings

The College of Education and Health Professions added digital message boards to the college’s buildings this summer as another tool to communicate with students, faculty, staff and the public. The college now has 10 boards that will run similar content in the Graduate Education Building, Peabody Hall and the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building on campus.  Submit announcements to Heidi Stambuck, director of communications, at 575-3138, stambuck@uark.edu or deliver to 302 Graduate Education Building. Dianne Stout, director of information services, Dylan Hurd, coordinator of instructional and Web-based services, and Matthew Ramsey, systems administrator for Intramural/Recreational Sports, complete the team that maintains the boards.
