CLIMBING WALL SUPERVISOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The job of climbing wall supervisor includes numerous detailed activities and tasks that need to be completed with safety and efficiency.  The supervisor will need to have all the qualities as follows:

  • All staff of the climbing wall needs to be First Aid and CPR certified.
  • For all applicants, indoor or outdoor climbing experience is preferred.
  • The ability to correctly tie and check knots for safety and usage.
  • The supervisor needs to be physically fit and strong enough to push and pull 50 pounds of weight.
  • The ability to work well with fellow employees and to communicate with the University’s community and general public.
  • The supervisor needs to check and document equipment daily, e.g., ropes, helmets, harnesses, carabiners, belay devices, and shoes.
  • The ability to deal with working at heights, while checking climbing holds and wall durability.  
  • The supervisor must be able to teach beginners and advanced climbers the rules and regulations that are used with the University of Arkansas Indoor Climbing Wall.
  • Supervisors need to display positive attitudes while working.  Maturity and dependability are strong characteristics and attributes that are a necessity for the job.
  • The supervisor must understand the risks associated with indoor rock climbing.
  • The ability to understand and follow all the University’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
