EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
Important to Remember:
In emergency situations, your role is to evacuate the Sports Complex or relocate to a safety zone while assisting your participants to do the same. For Water Ski and Crew, the Sports Complex is your respective lakes.
Your personal safety is the most important aspect of evacuation. Use your own judgment when assisting others during the evacuation process. Do keep our disabled students and participants in mind.
Follow the instructions given to you by emergency personnel and the IMRS staff.
Moving to Outdoor Safety Zones (Weather Warning or other Situations)
IMRS staff will notify the Sports Complex inhabitants of the need to relocate to a safety zone. This will be performed by intercom, radio and/or in-person. IMRS Staff will be located on site directing people to the appropriate safety zone. An IMRS staff member may not be able to inform the Water Ski and/or Crew Clubs, so please listen and obey emergency procedures in place at your respective lakes.
Upon notification, calmly inform the participants to pick up their belongings and relocate to an instructed safe area.
SEVERE WEATHER PROCEDURES
The IMRS staff member on duty will monitor the local weather channel on-line or by weather alert with cell phone and/or a lighting detector on site. If severe weather is detected, please follow the instructions of the IMRS staff member.
IMPORTANT NOTE: When possible, participants should be notified to vacate the area.
Severe Weather Reminders
Tornado Watch: Issued when tornadoes are possible in your area. Remain alert for approaching storms.
Tornado Warning: A tornado warning means a tornado was spotted or is likely in your area. Seek shelter immediately!
Lightning: All thunderstorms produce lightning with the potential for injury and death. So when thunderstorms approach, TAKE CAUTION. It is recommended that you do not use electrical machines or the telephone during electrical storms. For Water Ski and Crew Clubs, TAKE CAUTION and have all personal and members exit your respective lakes immediately.
BE CAUTIOUS AT ALL TIMES. DO NOT JEOPARDIZE YOUR SAFETY OR OTHERS.
