Intramural/Recreational Sports is one of the largest employers of student employees on the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville Campus.  We employ almost 300 students each year.  Our employees do it all from serving as life guards at the pool to refereeing on the sports fields.  Look over the job descriptions and fill out an application today!

Administration
Online Employment Application 

1. Office Assistant [Now Hiring for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.]
As the front office assistant, you are the “face” of the Department of Intramural/Recreational Sports. Many of your duties will be specific to the day to day operations of the front office. To excel in this position, you must be well-organized and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. You must be able to provide top quality customer service, have experience with a multi-line phone system, good telephone etiquette, and some knowledge of general office machinery. Some work will require experience using Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel. Your schedule may include morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts (including over the winter break and spring break). Your initial training will require several 4 hour shifts between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, attendance at monthly in-services as well as a department wide training every August. Certifications for credit card management and CPR are required however opportunities to become certified will be offered to you in your first month of employment. We accept applications year round.

2. Technology Assistant [No positions currently available.]
Technology assistants support the computing needs of Intramural/Recreational Sports by installing hardware, software and providing user training and support of the various applications used by IMRS.  Applicants should be able to provide basic computer hardware and software support, have an understanding of application programming techniques and be familiar with at least one programming language.    

3. Marketing Assistant [No positions currently available.]

Marketing Assistants design flyers, banner, pamphlets and other advertising materials for IMRS.  They also attend IMRS event to shoot photos and video footage.  Applicants should be able to design eye catching ads and have a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.  Experience with Sports photography and Audio/Video Editing a plus.

Facility Management

Greet and welcome HPER members each time they utilize the HPER Building, while supervising, maintaining and being in charge of one of three entrances to the HPER Building.  Facility Assistants provide quality customer service, oversee security measures by checking identification cards and valid HPER membership cards, are knowledgeable and take correct action in guest pass policies & procedures, all HPER emergency procedures, and have an extensive knowledge of the computerized check-in system.  Must be able to attend mandatory semester and bi-monthly training sessions, assist Program Directors as necessary, promote safe and courteous behavior while enforcing facility regulations, and other duties as assigned.The employee must be enrolled in classes at the University of Arkansas and possess standard 1st Aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross.  Must be willing to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends.

2. Lifeguard [No positions currently available.]
Responsible for the security, safety and supervision of HPER patrons using the HPER Natatorium.  Lifeguards supervise HPER participants in and around the HPER Natatorium area, prevent and correct poor behavior, ensure the Natatorium is safe and free of all hazards, implement emergency skills as necessary.  Must also know the emergency evacuation procedures of the HPER Pool and surrounding areas in the event of emergencies.  Must be able to participate in monthly trainings, swim at least 1000 yds in the pool each week to maintain swimming ability, keep proper records of pool usage, shift reports, and maintenance/ safety logs, provide assistance to Facility Coordinator as needed, and other duties as assigned.  The employee must be enrolled in classes at the University of Arkansas and must possess current certification in Lifeguarding skills/ First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer by the American Red Cross.  Must be willing to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends.


Fitness/Wellness

2. Fitness Center Assistant [No positions currently available.]
Fitness Center Assistants work behind front desk and greet participants as they enter. They also monitor the participants for safety and monitor equipment for possible hazards. Staff members also are responsible for cleaning equipment and helping participants learn to use equipment if needed. Must have some knowledge of Fitness Training and must work well with people and be friendly to Fitness Center participants.

3. Personal Trainer [No positions currently available.] 
Current Certification Required. Trainers are responsible for meeting with clients to discuss their fitness goals and conducting fitness assessments to monitor progress in reaching fitness goals. Trainers create exercise routines for participants as well as help them perform the routines that will help the participants meet their personal goals.

Special Events

Special Event assistants should be present at all events scheduled for the semester.  On event days, the practicum student will be present for the entirety of set up, event administration and take-down.  Administrative duties such as media creation and event marketing may take place at the discretion of the student with communication and agreement from the Graduate Assistant for Special Events and Instructional Programs. 

Clubs Sports

The Club Sports student assistant will assist in all aspects of the Club Sports program at the University of Arkansas. This individual will provide onsite supervision of competitions and practices for all indoor and field sports within the program, to include lacrosse, ultimate, soccer, volleyball, indoor martial arts, and many more. Event management will consist of facility setup and breakdown, scorekeeping, crowd control, and other areas of sporting coordination.

The purpose of the supervisor position is to supervise intramural team sports including flag football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball, and various other activities. 3. Intramural Scorekeeper [No positions currently available.]
Responsibilities include continually updating scores for Intramural activities, preparing pre and post game paperwork, and other duties assigned by the Intramural/Recreational Sports staff.

4. Intramural Field Maintenance Assistant
Members of the field maintenance crew will maintain and prepare the facilities and fields at Intramural Sports Complex. Responsibilities include cleaning and stocking restrooms, mowing, weed eating, and other tasks assigned by the Intramural/Recreational Sports staff.

5. Intramural Concessionaire [No positions currently available.]
The concessionaire is responsible for working at the Intramural Sports Complex concession stand. Duties include receiving monies for purchases, giving correct change, and serving food products to patrons.


Outdoor Connection

1. OCC Supervisor [No positions currently available.]

The Outdoor Connection Center consists of 2 climbing facilities, gear rental program, trips/activities, seminars/clinics, teambuilding (FUSED), and leadership development training. The OCC supervisor is responsible for registering participants in offered programs; provide area information on outdoor related activities; rent, maintenance, and clean rental equipment; instruct and supervise patrons at climbing facilities; provide excellent customer service to patrons; and assist in facilitation of offered programs. Once employed at the OCC, employees have the opportunity to lead off campus educational programs, facilitate FUSED programs, enroll in the leadership development training, and conduct event/programs held in the HPER. Employees are required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Bi-monthly meetings and trainings are a requirement.
