ADULT and YOUTH Swimming Lessons
Learn To Swim
Intramural/Recreational Sports offers the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program to swimmers of various abilities. Beginner and Intermediate classes are offered for both children and adults. Participants will receive Red Cross Learn to Swim certificates upon successful completion of the course. Participants must pre-register before the session deadline. No drop-in participants are allowed. Classes are subject to a minimum of three participants in each section.
SWIM INSTRUCTORS WANTED: IMRS is currently accepting applications for WSI certified Swim Lesson Instructors. Please apply online at http://imrs.uark.edu. Under 'Position(s) applying for', select 'Fitness/Wellness Instructor' and under 'Additional skills/training' please state Swim Lesson Instructor. Once you have submitted an online application, please follow up with an email to the contact information below.
Cost: All sessions cost $35 each for both students and non-students.
Youth Lessons
Classes expand students' locomotion, water adjustment, and safety skills. Participants will learn how to hold their breath underwater, float on front and back, level off, flutter kick on front and back, begin coordinated arm and leg action, and turn over. Ages 7 and up, or have successfully completed Level I.
Adult Lessons
Classes are for new and/or apprehensive swimmers. Lessons will include introduction to breath-holding, rhythmic breathing, floats and glides, basic arm strokes, combination swimming, and basic water safety skills.
