Our Purpose

The Fitness/Wellness program exists to provide a diverse selection of quality recreational activities for individuals to pursue fitness, wellness, and leisure opportunities which enhance their personal development and establish habits for a healthy lifestyle.

What We Offer

Intramural/Recreational Sports offers a wide variety of structured and open fitness opportunities.  More information on each of the following programs is available by clicking one of the links below.

The Donna Axum Fitness Center provides a variety of selectorized and free weight equipment, as well as several types of cardio machines, all outfitted with Cardio Theater.  Headphones and weight belts are available for checkout with a current U of A ID or HPER Card.  Hours of operation during the academic semester are Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 11:30 pm, Saturday 9:00 am to 11:30 pm, and Sunday 1:00 pm to 11:30 pm.  Proper workout attire is required, and bags are prohibited.  Please refer to the complete list of fitness center rules.

Each semester brings a fresh and comprehensive selection of group fitness classes.  Studio classes such as Ab Zone, Kick Box, and Hip Hop Cardio are sure to challenge all fitness levels, while Yoga, Tai Chi, and Belly Dance engage both the mind and the body.  Aqua Aerobics are also offered as a non-impact alternative to studio classes.  Please refer to the complete schedule of classes and registration procedures before attending.

     Personal Training and Fitness Assessments

Intramural/Recreational Sports can help achieve fitness and exercise goals through the use of the Personal Training and Fitness Assessment program.  Experienced student trainers guide participants through exercise programs, providing instruction, motivation, and personalized attention.  A variety of package types are available.

     Massage

Licensed massage therapists are available at established days and times during the week and on weekends.  Please call 479.575.4646 for pricing and available appointment times.
