Professional Biography:
Born in Okinawa, Japan, Jennifer grew up in the sunshine state of Florida. Jennifer received a Bachelor’s Degree in Leisure Studies at the University of West Florida, where she also played collegiate softball. Jennifer then served as a Graduate Assistant in the Intramural/Recreational Sports program while receiving her Master of Education in Recreation Management. After receiving her Master’s Degree, Jennifer accepted a position as the Outdoor Director of the University of Arkansas Intramural/Recreational Sports Program. Jennifer has numerous professional certifications and is very active in professional associations.
Job Duties:
As Assistant Director for the Intramural/Recreation Sports Program, Director of the Outdoor Connection Center, Jennifer and her Graduate Assistant oversee the operation of the Outdoor Connection Rental Center, Trips/Activities, Seminars/Clinics, bouldering wall, and the climbing wall. Responsibilities include administering all applicable policies and procedures related to the operation of the O.C.C.; hire, train, schedule and supervise all O.C.C. employees; oversee the purchase, inventory, maintenance, and rental of sporting and camping equipment; plan all logistics for adventure trips and train all appropriate staff; maintain program budget; assist with National Youth Sports Program; assist with the overall duties of the Intramural/Recreation Sports Program.
Professional Development:
Jennifer has had an active interest in the field of Recreational Sports since becoming involved in recreation during high school. Since becoming a NIRSA member in 1999 and NRPA in 1998, she has participated in many conferences, workshops, and clinics at local, regional, and national levels. Jennifer’s favorite aspects of her professional field are helping students and participants recreate and get outside, and providing valuable professional development opportunities for her student staff.
